Enchanted Farm Cafe

Enchanted Farm Cafe: Brewing Innovation, Good Coffee and Tea

Looking for a new place to eat? Have coffee? And chat with friends? Here are our favourite finds in Quezon City.

Although I haven’t had the chance to travel with Tom as much as I wanted to since Spiral Sun started, I did have to leave Naga mid-June for Manila. I took an AirPhilExpress flight on the last week a pregnant woman is allowed to board and started our waiting game back home with my parents in Quezon City.

Because of the amount of time I had while waiting to pop, I had the chance to rediscover the treasures of my beloved Metro Manila. Visiting old favorites, catching up with friends and family at places formerly frequented and finding new places to eat and visit started to keep me quite busy (and well fed).

One of my new favorites is the Enchanted Farm Café. Found along Commonwealth (right above Human Nature’s flagship store), the charming café greets customers with the scent of citronella and brewed coffee. You’ll often find groups of young, idealistic and passionate people (from here and abroad) huddled in a corner discussing their social enterprises over a jar (yes, a jar – not a glass) of Enchantea (PHP35) and Kesong Puti Sticks (PHP80).

The café itself is a social enterprise, a venue for local farming communities and the Enchanted Farm (a village university that serves as an incubator for different agricultural/rural social enterprises in Angat, Bulacan) to serve their fresh, organic produce. The menu board gives a peek as to what our farms can produce – from tomato basil pastas to kamote fries and veggie burgers.

My favorite has got to be the Pinoy Pesto Pasta with Lemongrass Chicken (PHP150). A hearty serving of pasta that comes with salad and bread with a jar of Enchantea or a mug of coffee makes a pretty perfect lunch. Cap it off with an interesting conversation with the volunteers that run the business and you’re to leave the place with a satisfied tummy and a happy soul. It’s always great to have a good meal – but even better knowing it came from the hardworking hands of our farmers.
